last Thursday
On Thursday we talked about teen pregnancy and I was amazed at how high it was. But yet I was also happy that the percentages of teen pregnancy has gone down. I think that media influences teens' choices. Channels like MTV promote sexual activity and movies like Juno stated that it's okay for a teen to have a baby. In real life it's completely different. In Juno they made raising the baby and finding parents for it even easier. Also her parents understood and stood behind her 100%. In real life the parents don't always support the girl's actions or ideas.

I was suprised that the rates had gone down! My school had the highest preganancy rate in Nebraska and it seemed like every other girl was pregnant sometimes. The sad thing is a lot of them thought it was cool to be pregnant and even planned them. I once heard a Freshman walking behind me in the halls talking about how she wished she was oregnant so that she could be cool. It is a sad day when a fourteen year old wants to be pregnant so she can fit in at school. I think the media glorifies things like this and makes it seem okay. In some instances things can turn out okay but here are many times when it does not.
